Equitise, crowdfunding, VC, angel investor

Equitise has assembled a team of Australian VC and angel investors to launch a new group investment platform based on AngelList in the US and Europe.

Freelancer’s Matt Barrie, Reinventure and Tank Stream Ventures are some of the fintech investors collaborating with Equitise on the project.

Equitise co-founder Chris Gilbert said the aim of the new platform is to make the best investment opportunities available to investors, giving them a chance to diversify their portfolios with pre-vetted investments.

Early stage Silicon Valley tech investors Ash Fontana, who helped develop AngelList, will be presenting at the launch of the new Equitise platform.

Mr Gilbert said the launch has been hindered by the back-and-forth about the government’s new crowdfunding legislation.

"Unfortunately, lengthy delays in the Australian government’s ability to action new laws which enable this form of funding has meant that launching a viable variation of this model that fits our regulatory framework has been significantly hindered and become somewhat of a political football over the past three years," he said.
