ANZ pay

Under the offer, ANZ Access Advantage Visa debit card customers will be able to make purchases and withdraw cash at the checkout of participating merchants.

ANZ customer engagement lead Kath Bray said the offer would give over three million customers more choice when using Apple Pay for payments.

“Customers will still enjoy the same high level of convenience and security they have become used to with Apple Pay and eftpos,” Mrs Bray said.

ANZ was the first bank to sign on to Apple Pay with CommBank announcing in December that the payment system would be available to customers in the future.

The feature for ANZ is the latest tech feature to be added to the bank’s suite after its September launch of ANZ Wallets which let customers use their phone or smartwatch to withdraw cash at ATMs.

Eftpos managing director Stephen Benton said that customers wanted choice when paying and this launch gave choice back to the consumer.

“Eftpos research shows payment choice is hugely important to customers and we’re excited ANZ debit cardholders will, for the first time,  have the option to select eftpos to make a transaction from their CHQ or SAV account with Apple Pay.”
