Eftopos, new chairman, appointment

In a statement, Eftpos announced that it had elected independent board director Mr Clapham to chair the board of the payments company.

From 2002 to 2010, Mr Clapham held a variety of senior executive roles at Mastercard, spanning the regions and countries of Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, Nordics, and Europe.

Mr Clapham will replace Vikki McFadden in the role, who resigned in March 2018.

Eftpos chief executive Stephen Bendon commented: “Leigh has significant experience in payments and a strong customer driven sales approach with high urgency and a real results focus.”

Mr Clapham has also had previous board experience and currently sits or has sat on the boards of Optal Asia, Plusu Commerce, AUSBUY, David Jones, the World Retail Congress, the Tourism and Transport Forum, the Cure Cancer Australia Foundation as well as a number of advertising agencies.

Commenting on his own appointment, Mr Clapham said he was “delighted” to join the eftpos board.

“I believe eftpos plays a critical role in the dynamic Australian payments landscape with significant potential to provide even greater value to the holders of our current 46 million eftpos enabled cards,” he said.
