Mr Ferner, who joins Right Click Capital from the Boston Consulting Group, will be responsible for reviewing potential deals, helping founders grow their businesses and supporting the overall start-up community.
He will focus on Right Click Capital's Growth Fund, which invests in and supports high-growth internet and technology businesses in Australia, New Zealand and south-east Asia.
Right Click Capital partner Benjamin Chong said the appointment of Mr Ferner came after an "extensive international search".
"Ulric is a specialist in evaluating investment opportunities, and this expertise – coupled with his deep understanding of the Asia-Pacific marketplace – will be of immediate benefit to Right Click Capital as we continue our investment journey," Mr Chong said.
"He has an immensely successful track record in evaluating the IP [intellectual property] and technologies of start-ups, and will help drive Right Click Capital’s continued focus on investing in early-stage tech companies.
Mr Ferner said he was "incredibly optimistic about local start-ups", adding that the Australian start-up sector is at an "inflection point".
"We have more and more world-leading talent coupled with increasing access to capital and mentorship so companies can grow quickly and win in global markets," he said.
